Can I actually eat the recipes in the book?
Yes! To eat the recipes in the book, simply replace as follows:
- bull emphon cuts – replace 1:1 with the same cut of beef cattle. For example, bull emphon chuck can be replaced with standard chuck (ground beef).
- guavacado – replace 1:1 medium Haas avocado + 1/2 teaspoon of lime juice.
- skyroot powder – replace 1:2 with cumin + 2:1 with paprika. For example, 1 teaspoon of skyroot powder can be replaced with 2 teaspoons of cumin + 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
What if I don’t eat meat or want to prioritize plant-based protiens?
As a vegetarian, I’m thrilled you’re here asking this question. I can happily say you can enjoy these too.
(Minor Spoilers Ahead)
I recommend substituting beef emphon with similar “styles” of plant-based protiens as follows:
– First Flavor: Juicy Marbles Filet Cut
– Sleepless Salad: Beyond Meat Steak Tips
– Emphon Tartare: I can’t legally recommend this because I can’t actually encourage eating raw foods, but let’s just say it can be done.
– Grilled Steak Fries: Nayasoya Superfirm Tofu, shredded or crumbled and marinated in a dredge of 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke, 1 teaspoon tomato paste, 1 tablespoon red wine, 2 teaspoons garlic powder, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon soy sauce. (Just trust me, it works).
– Chili Control: I mean, if you really want to, Impossible Ground Beef (lean)
– Emphon Rub: Beyond Meat Steak Tipes
– Shank Stew: Oddly, sliced Beyond Burger works best for this.
